Desafios pastorais de Aparecida e interpelações do Papa Francisco

Résumé

Resumo: A proposta de Aparecida se insere, por um lado, no contexto da renovação do Vaticano
II, em sua “volta às fontes” bíblicas e patrísticas e, por outro, no gradativo processo de involução
eclesial das últimas décadas. De maneira surpreendente, a V Conferência resgatou o Concílio e
reafirmou a tradição libertadora da Igreja na América Latina. Foi o renascer de uma esperança.
Foi neste contexto, entre o medo de avançar e a audácia de lançar-se na tessitura do risco, que
a Igreja foi surpreendida com a eleição do Papa Francisco. Com Aparecida e desde a primeirahora,
o novo Bispo de Roma assumiu e propôs à Igreja universal a retomada da renovação
conciliar, em estreita sintonia com o modo como a Igreja na América Latina a tem assumido e
levado a cabo. Aparecida e Evangelii Gaudium desafiam todos nós, cristãos, a sermos: uma
“Igreja samaritana”, companheira de caminho na solidariedade com toda a humanidade, especialmente
com os que sofrem; uma “Igreja profética”, no seio de uma sociedade excludente,
que trata dos pobres como descartáveis e insignificantes; e uma “Igreja em estado permanente
de missão”, disposta a sair às ruas, ao encontro das periferias existenciais.

Abstract: The fundamental issue of Aparecida concerns and penetrates the purpose of renovation
of Vatican II, as regards its “return to the sources” through understanding biblical and
Patristic origins and, on the other hand, reassumed its gradual shift of ecclesial reverse during
the last decades. Quite surprisingly, the Vth Conference restored the Council and reaffirmed the
liberating tradition of the Church of Latin America. It was a rebirth of hope. It happened in this
context, between fear of going ahead and audacity to assume a new challenge that the Church
was faced with something quite unexpected in the election of Pope Francis. Engaging in the
movement of Aparecida since the start, the new Bishop of Rome took over and proposed to
the whole Church the initiatives and renovation of tenets of the Council within strict adherence
to the modes in which the Church of the Latin American was engaged in and was trying to
lead to perfection. As a matter of fact, Aparecida and Evangelii Gaudium are challenging all
of us as Christians to become a “Church compared with the Good Samaritan” (cf. the parable
in the Gospel), as a companion in the way of solidarity with humanity as a whole, especially
with those who are suffering; it is supposed to be a “prophetic Church” in the midst of society
renowned for its exclusivity since it is treating the poor people as objects to be discarded and
insignificant trash. This Church is supposed to be a “Church on a state of permanent mission”
and quite ready to go out on the streets to meet the outcasts roaming about in the periphery
